HIGH / LOW* MASTER BEDROOM IN SHADES OF BEIGE

I was recently tasked with a project that is essentially a designer’s dream. A young family asked me to decorate their Master Bedroom from top to bottom. Even better, their house is gorgeous – right on the water with tons of natural sunlight.  The challenge here was to use affordable elements wherever possible in this bedroom design, but to keep the decor high-end looking in order to complement the beautiful quality of the house.

The solution: I mixed HIGH / LOW! This gives them 2 design options, at different price points. They can decide how much they want to spend and which details they choose. By creating the same look for less, it makes design affordable with the same look as the more expensive version.

That’s $39,479.70 in savings between both design schemes.

It’s hard to know sometimes which items to spend on and which ones to save on. I always suggest splurging on WOW pieces that you LOVE or ones that you will use every day. That way you can save on the smaller pieces like pillows, artwork and trendy accents that will be changed up.  The process of hiring a designer can be overwhelming, until you realize how much money they can actually save you.

My clients wanted a romantic beige on beige vibe for their bedroom, the kind of room that they can walk into at the end of a long day and feel instantly calm and relaxed.

HOW TO CREATE A MONOCHROMATIC LOOK- REPEAT COLOUR

The best tip to layering a monochromatic look is to start with 4-5 items in the room in that colour, from furniture to accessories all in tones of the same colour. This includes paint, bed, accent pillows, bed, rug and drapes. After that I mixed in some creams and white pieces to freshen it up and give a slight contrast.

This design might be less expensive but it is super stylish with many of the same elements as the more expensive version.

My goal in design is to create peaceful spaces that my clients will fall in love with over and over again.
